Tourism is a growing and one of the major foreign income generating sectors in Sri Lanka. At present Sri Lanka in need of enhancing the quality and exposure internationally.
Department of Tourism Management, Faculty of Management Studies, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka being of the leading education service provides. Tourism & Hospitality Management is proposing to host the “Tourism Day 2019” in parallel to The World Tourism Day.
We are intending to celebrate the Tourism Day 2019 on theme of “Tourism & Jobs: A better future for all”. The purpose of world tourism day is to foster awareness among the international community on the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political & economic value.
The program would be designed with activities that would undoubtedly contribute on above theme. The program would be targeted tourism enterprise owner, employees, academics, undergraduates & school children.
Objectives of the Programme
To celebrate the World Tourism Day within the university premises.
To enhance the image of the university in the field of tourism in Sri Lanka.
To make aware about tourism related jobs among the undergraduates and school leavers.
To create link between industry professionals, undergraduates and the community.
To build awareness among school children on the field of tourism and thereby build a willingness in them to join the industry.
To improve the student’s personnel and organization skills.
